My First Black Bear
 

Here is my very first black bear. Freddy and I were hunting with Northern Adventure Hunts in Alberta with Heather Chaney last week and I was lucky enough to score on the first night of the hunt. We had a great time and Freddy was able to fling some arrows too. Full stories will be appearing on the homepage starting next week.

He is 6'4" from nose to tail and squares 6'2"

Congrats Gary! Did you green score the skull? In Alberta you can take two bears in some areas - did you try for numero dous?:)

Very nice. Way to go.

We did a very rough score on him and came up with 17 3/4. I'll measure him for real after I have the skull done, hopefully we were off by 1/4" :D Either way he's a real good bear and I feel very blessed to have had the opportunity to take him.

I did try for #2 but it just didn't work out, I had a sow with cubs come in the one night, and I filmed Freddy kill his first on the second night and his second on the last night. We had a great time and I'm pretty confident that if we had one or two more nights to hunt I would have been able to get my second bear, Heather and Jason did a great job of getting us on bears despite the cold weather.

His mellon looks bigger then that but still a great bear.congrats
