Back Tension releases
Anyone shoot a back tension release, at least for practice to correct your release mechanics (pulling through to achieve a surprise release)?
|
I shoot one all of the time. I've gotten to where a trigger release now messes me up.
I'm using a Zenith Archery Comfort X-Cel three finger rope release. It's a clicker style which means there is a click right before the release will go off. You hold on the click to get your sight aligned before pulling back with your back muscles to cause the surprise release. It takes time to get it right, but it's worth it. |
Oh yeah, I tried one once...I lost my caliper and thought I'd borrow a back tension. This was for league. I shot a 116. I was shooting in the 280's with the caliper! lol

I was just checking out the Stans and the Carters...those suckers EXPENSIVE! Holy Hanna!
I'll have to look at the Zeniths... |
lol...Holy Hannah...do you watch Stargate??

haha, no. I hate sci-fi.
I just say it to keep me from outright cussing! haha |
I tried one I stuck an arrow in my basement steps. I gave up on it pretty quick. I wouldnt mind giving it a shot again.

I've never tried, but have heard they are well worth the effort to learn. Not sure I have enough patience for that learning phase though
