Yote Hunting!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am getting geared-up for yote hunting this year. I have not hunted yotes for a couple of years, I am gonna ge back into it this year. Anyone else getting ready?
What is the best call for yote, I use the rabbit distess, any other good calls? Does the moveable rabbit decoys work, or a yote decoy? :D |
I've been shooting at them for a few weeks now,I keep my .223 in my truck all the time becasue some mornings on the way to work I might see 2 or 3 running around. The one day I saw 6,coats are starting to look good too.

We usually start yote hunting here after 2nd gun season(couple of weeks). sometimes we use the caller, and sometimes we use dogs....alot of fun!!!! :D

I'm usually going strong by now but I haven't started yet this year. I hope to get after it in the next week or two.
I use just about any call that will bring them in. Mostly use open reed call use the rabbit distress. I do alot of howling with the open reed howlers too. I do use an electronic some times. Not much on decoys or electronic remotes. I can't see sneaking into an area and then stomping all around the area putting out decoys and remotes. Kind of defeats the whole idea of sneaking it. I do use a dog for a decoy sometimes if I'm in an area that I don't think has any wolves around at that time. |
I have never tried howling before, might try that. thanks for the info.:D
We use foxhounds(coyote hounds) alot around here also, that is a blast....alot of action! |
during our deer season we do alot of driving woods and we really knock the coyote population trying to get deer... like two or three a day everyday of gun season

Go Get'm!! I'll bet hunting them with dogs is exciting! I've read about it before, but never heard of anyone from around here actually doing it.

Dogs can be a blast to hunt with. This dog was one of my better decoy dogs. I had to have her put down this summer so this fall/winter I'm dogless!
