Fresh string beans
Got home last night and smelled beans cooking when I stepped on the front porch. My Mom, who came to live with my wife and myself back in Feb, had been up to one of our local farmers markets and had bought some fresh picked Blue Lakes and some October beans.
She strung and snapped the Blue Lakes, shelled the Octobers and put them in a pot with some water and a big piece of what we call "streaked meat or fat back". Get 'em to boiling, put the lid on and turn down the heat so they can cook reeeaallly slow. Can't stir 'em, just let them cook.
We had us a good ole homecooked pot of beans, pork chops off the grill and homegrown sliced tomatoes. MMMMMMMMMMMMMM !!!!
Figured I share this with ya'll, 'cause its just about time to head for the house and see what's cooking for tonite!
