Kimberly Standiford - Texas

"Montana was my first experience long range spotting from up on a mountain & then stalking to within bow range. I stalked and then belly crawled my way towards a beautiful 5x5 mule deer before making a 60 yard shot (with fingers). Two days later in Alberta, I had the biggest bodied, widest racked whitetail EVER walk past my ground blind at 20 yards! This was when I got a little too excited... The Montana Mule deer is on my bedroom wall and the Alberta Whitetail is still growing and living the good life in Canada."

I am an Apartment Manager in Fort Worth, Texas. I’ve been married to Scott for 10 years and we have three beautiful children; daughter Atley 8, son Resse 6 (like Jesse, but with an “R”), and daughter Annika 4. Other than hunting, I like to scrapbook, do counted cross-stitch, and play with the kids.

I haven’t always been a hunter; in fact prior to meeting Scott, I tried being a vegetarian. My first hunting experience was tagging along on a Mule Deer hunt to New Mexico with (then boyfriend) Scott. I carried Scott’s compact-VHS camera and followed him. We had just sat down to rest on the side of a hill (and I put the camera away), when I looked behind Scott and over his shoulder, I saw the biggest deer I had ever seen. The buck bounded away. Scott was disappointed, but I told him we could just walk back out here tomorrow and get him (I've since learned, it’s not that easy). Back at camp I told Scott and the rest of the gang, that I HAD to get a bow and learn to shoot. The other guys in camp laughed and said I sounded “blood-thirsty”, but I was hooked!

I am looking forward to sharing my families hunting experiences with your family by way of now being part of the Archer's Choice Media POSSE. The fall is my favorite time of the year, and I love it when I have the opportunity to get out in the woods. There is something to be said about the peacefulness that you feel and the excitement of seeing the deer. Filming has allowed me to meet a lot of wonderful people, and it has given me the opportunity to create and document my memories and experiences for my children and friends to look over when we return home. I like to think of it as Video scrap booking.
