"Most hunters would think me crazy if I didn’t tell you the self-guided Alaskan moose hunt with Renfro’s Alaskan Adventures that Ralph and Vicki sent Zendal and I on in 2009, but I truly cherished spending my twelfth wedding anniversary filming my wife and two daughters hunting hogs together in a groundblind in Central Florida with our good friends, at Osceola Outfitters. It was my wife’s first hog hunt and since our two daughters were so young we were all able to sit together in THE CHOICE groundblind! My second choice would be my oldest daughter Dani’s first
I didn’t grow up hunting, but I did grow up in the outdoors fishing, hiking, and camping. I grew up near the second largest city in Illinois in the proverbial ‘concrete jungle’ but thank the good Lord above for state parks and parents that loved being outside and involved as a family. From this love of the outdoors came a desire to become a biologist. I started a zoology degree to study fisheries and wildlife biology at Southern Illinois University Carbondale and it was at that time, I decided I needed to learn about hunting as a management tool if was to truly be a good biologist. I became a self-taught bowhunter making all the mistakes, but it wasn’t long until I had my fist bow kill and from that moment in time, my life has never been the same. Bow hunting became a spiritual connection with the wilderness that I had missed my whole life. Growing up as a fisherman, I ate fish and my family grew a garden and we provided for ourselves in some way, but once I began to understand hunting as well, I truly felt a part of what our Creator has given us here on earth. Since then, I have converted my entire family (Mother, Father, Brother, Friends, Wife , AND my two children) into hunters. I continue to mentor and try to bring everyone I can into the shooting and hunting lifestyle. I’ve been with Ralph, Vicki, and the Archer’s Choice Media team for over 5 years now and during this time, I’ve been Blessed with opportunities at dreams that would have only been dreams without their assistance and faith in me as a hunter and camera man—for that I am thankful.
